ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ, UNITED STATES, September 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- GLW, Inc. (“GLW Medical” or the “Company”), a medical technology company focused on orthopedic extremity and trauma surgery, today announced plans to preview the GLW Valerius™ Bunion Correction System at the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) Annual Meeting 2026, September 16 to 19, 2026 in Seattle, Washington. GLW Valerius brings MIS Lapidus fusion into GLW Medical’s percutaneous-first bunion portfolio through a guided, procedure-specific workflow built around the Company’s proprietary Ortholucent technology.— Emilio Wagner, MD, a member of GLW Medical’s Surgeon Design Team.
Bunions, also known as hallux valgus, are among the most common foot deformities, affecting about one-third of adults in the United States, with prevalence increasing with age. As bunion correction moves toward more minimally invasive, procedure-specific techniques, GLW Medical is building a complementary portfolio that spans distal metatarsal osteotomy with GLW Sabre™ and Lapidus fusion with GLW Valerius™. For certain advanced deformities, Lapidus fusion may be used to stabilize the joint at the base of the big toe, and GLW Valerius is designed to support this procedure through a structured MIS workflow.
The system integrates radiolucent procedure guides, compatible implants, and standard intraoperative X-ray visualization to help surgeons execute the planned Lapidus workflow when clinically appropriate.
The preview reinforces GLW Medical’s strategy of pairing common platform elements with indication-specific solutions across MIS foot and ankle surgery. Together, GLW Sabre and GLW Valerius are intended to address complementary approaches in hallux valgus correction, spanning distal metatarsal osteotomy and Lapidus fusion.
“GLW Valerius is another important building block in our foot and ankle portfolio,” said Vadim Gurevich, President and CEO of GLW Medical. “With GLW Valerius, we are adding MIS Lapidus fusion to our percutaneous-first platform while continuing to build focused systems that share familiar workflows, core technologies, and scalable disposable guidance across multiple procedures.”
“For broader MIS bunion adoption, reducing procedural complexity and supporting a more approachable learning curve are critical,” said Emilio Wagner, MD, a member of GLW Medical’s Surgeon Design Team. “GLW Valerius is intended to support a structured, guided workflow for Lapidus bunion correction through a minimally invasive approach, while preserving the flexibility to perform the procedure through an open approach at the surgeon’s discretion.”

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
--------------------
GLW Valerius combines an ortholucent guide, Creed Edge™ implants, and intraoperative X-ray visualization to support MIS Lapidus fusion when clinically appropriate. The workflow is designed to assist with alignment, implant path preparation, crossing-screw placement, and optional fixation as needed. The system also includes single-use Creed burrs for joint preparation.
The Case Ready™ approach provides procedure-specific, single-use guidance with standard intraoperative X-ray visualization, helping reduce reliance on reusable guide sets, dedicated CT planning software, or capital equipment. For ambulatory surgery centers, this model may lower instrument handling, setup, and reprocessing burden, supporting more predictable case economics and a scalable pathway for adoption in high-volume outpatient bunion correction.
Limited market release of GLW Valerius is anticipated in early 2027.
AT THE GLW MEDICAL BOOTH
GLW Medical will showcase GLW Valerius at Booth 1312 using anatomical models, giving surgeons an opportunity to view the ortholucent guide and crossing-screw workflow in a clear, hands-on format.
