International speaker uses 116-kilometer pilgrimage to challenge the belief that meaningful achievement requires constant exhaustion

ORLANDO, FL, UNITED STATES, September 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- International keynote speaker and award-winning author and business coach Katie Hornor recently completed the final 116 kilometers of Spain’s Camino de Santiago alongside one of her daughters, gaining fresh insights she is now bringing to leadership audiences.

Fewer than 42,000 Americans walk the Camino each year, representing approximately one in every 8,000 Americans. For Hornor, the uncommon journey became more than a physical accomplishment. It provided a powerful setting for examining how ambitious leaders pursue difficult assignments without sacrificing their health, relationships, or joy.

Beginning in Sarria, Hornor and her daughter traveled with 10 fellow pilgrims before reaching Santiago de Compostela. It was Hornor’s first visit to Spain and her first long-distance pilgrimage.

Early in the journey, Hornor chose to take a taxi after walking for half a day rather than push beyond her physical limits. That decision became a central leadership lesson: adjusting the method does not mean abandoning the mission.

The mother-daughter experience reinforced the value of pursuing significant goals while remaining present for the people sharing the journey. Together, they navigated demanding trails, changing weather, historic sites, and the emotional arrival in Santiago. Hornor said her biggest takeaway was to "choose what matters. Make the plan. Take the first step. Then give yourself permission to experience the journey as it unfolds. Expect the unexpected and expect that you will never be the same."

Hornor has developed the experience into a keynote message for entrepreneurs, authors, speakers, and high-performing leaders. The presentation explores sustainable achievement, courageous course correction, meaningful relationships, and the difference between faithful endurance and unnecessary exhaustion.

Hornor is the founder of The Flamingo Advantage and the National Christian Association of Professional Speakers. She has more than 700 hours of stage experience and is the author of more than 90 books.
