On the cusp of New York Fashion Week, Hudson joins the forthcoming documentary examining Patrick Kelly’s career and rightful place in American fashion history.

Now Hudson is helping preserve that legacy.

Known for precision tailoring, commanding silhouettes, saturated color and modern power dressing, Hudson has emerged as a prominent voice in American luxury fashion. His involvement in Love, Patrick connects Kelly's historic breakthrough with the evolving visibility and influence of Black designers working at the highest levels of fashion today. Hudson has joined the forthcoming feature documentary Love, Patrick: Nothing Is Impossible as Executive Producer, expanding his involvement from a “featured voice” as the film moves toward completion.

The appointment creates a compelling dialogue across generations between two Black American designers shaped by Southern roots: Kelly, the Mississippi-born visionary who rose from the American South to the highest ranks of Paris fashion, and Hudson, whose contemporary luxury designs have been worn by Beyoncé, Rihanna, former First Lady Michelle Obama, former Vice President Kamala Harris, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria and Colman Domingo.

In his expanded role as Executive Producer, Hudson will provide strategic and creative consultation on the documentary's fashion narrative and cultural framing while helping the filmmakers identify and engage additional voices for select interviews.

RECLAIMING A FASHION LEGACY
Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Patrick Kelly charted an extraordinary path through Atlanta and New York before arriving in Paris, where his talent, audacity and singular visual language propelled him onto the international fashion stage.

In 1988, Kelly became the first American designer admitted to the Chambre Syndicale du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode, the governing body of France's prestigious ready-to-wear industry.

Known for exuberant silhouettes, fearless color, mismatched buttons, provocative iconography and a radical sense of joy, Kelly built an international fashion business while confronting racism, cultural stereotypes and exclusion with wit and unapologetic creativity. His meteoric rise was cut short by his death in 1990 at age 35 during the height of the AIDS crisis.

More than three decades later, Kelly's influence continues to reverberate throughout fashion and popular culture. Yet the magnitude of his achievements and influence remains too often fragmented or separated from the broader canon of American fashion history.
Love, Patrick: Nothing Is Impossible seeks to change that.
