Former Collin County prosecutor brings 25 years as a licensed attorney, nearly 100 jury trials, and a juvenile and CPS defense focus to the Frisco-based firm
Kristi led the units that prosecute the most serious cases in Collin County. Bringing that experience to the defense side is a game changer for the families we serve.”
MCKINNEY, TX, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- My Dallas Criminal Lawyer, a Frisco-based criminal defense law firm serving Collin County, Denton County, and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, announced that attorney Kristi Tyler has joined the firm. Tyler, a former Collin County prosecutor, brings 25 years as a licensed attorney, nearly 100 jury trials, and a reputation for compassionate client advocacy to the firm's criminal defense practice. She will focus on juvenile defense, CPS cases, and criminal defense in the Collin County courts.— Justin Barrett Wilson, Founding Attorney, My Dallas Criminal Lawyer
Tyler spent six years in the Collin County District Attorney's Office, where she held three chief positions: Misdemeanor Court Chief, first misdemeanor chief of the office's Domestic Violence Unit, which she helped launch, and Chief of the Felony Crimes Against Children Division, a vertical prosecution unit responsible for the county's most serious cases from intake through grand jury and trial. She also handled cases in the Specialized Crime Division, focusing on financial crimes, public integrity matters, and other complex cases.
"Kristi led the units that prosecute the most serious cases in Collin County," said Justin Barrett Wilson, founding attorney of My Dallas Criminal Lawyer and a former Collin County felony prosecutor. "She knows how these cases are investigated, how they are charged, and how they are won, because she did it herself for years. Bringing that experience to the defense side is a game changer for the families we serve."
Since leaving the District Attorney's Office, Tyler has defended clients of all ages in criminal, juvenile, and CPS matters. Her experience on both sides of the courtroom allows her to evaluate cases with an understanding of how prosecutors approach evidence, legal issues, and trial strategy.
For Tyler, representing clients means more than building a legal defense. She recognizes that an arrest or criminal accusation can leave individuals and families frightened and uncertain about what comes next, and she works to bring a measure of calm to those situations by explaining each step of the legal process, helping clients understand their options, and providing an in-depth analysis of their cases. Past clients have consistently praised her communication, compassion, professionalism, and responsiveness, describing her as "understanding, kind and confident." One former client wrote, "Communication is the most important to me and never have I once felt like I was in the dark... Realistic expectations and sound advice was appreciated. I would 10/10 recommend Ms. Tyler."
"I became a lawyer to be a voice for people who feel like no one is listening," Tyler said. "When a family is facing a juvenile charge or a CPS investigation, my first job is to make sure they understand the process and know what comes next. I want every client to leave our first meeting knowing more and worrying less."
Calm and compassionate with her clients, Tyler is a fierce advocate and experienced litigator in the courtroom. Her attention to detail and willingness to deeply examine the facts and circumstances of each case have contributed to dismissals, charge reductions, and other favorable outcomes for clients.
Tyler earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in College Station and her J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, where she served as Managing Editor of the American Journal of Criminal Law. She is a member of the Texas Bar College, has been recognized as an Elite Lawyer annually since 2023, and was named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in criminal defense by The National Trial Lawyers for 2023. Her professional memberships include the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Collin County Bar Association, the McKinney Bar Association, and the Plano Bar Association.
With Tyler's addition, the firm's attorneys bring 21 combined years of prosecutorial experience, roughly 52 years of combined legal experience, and more than 300 trials. The team includes former prosecutors from the Collin County District Attorney's Office, the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, and the City of Frisco, and the firm was voted the back-to-back Gold Winner for Best DUI | DWI Lawyer in The Dallas Morning News Best in DFW People's Choice Awards for 2025 and 2026. Her arrival expands the capacity of the firm's Collin County criminal defense lawyers and adds depth for families searching for a juvenile defense attorney in Collin County.
Outside the firm, Tyler enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the outdoors. Her full biography is available at https://www.mydallascriminallawyer.com/about-us/kristi-tyler/.
