Despite being one of Singapore's most requested treatments, doctors say Pico Laser is built to solve only part of most patients' skin concerns.
SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Despite being one of Singapore's most requested treatments, doctors say Pico Laser is built to solve only part of most patients' skin concerns.Pico Laser remains one of the most frequently requested treatments at Singapore aesthetic clinics, but doctors at ClearSK say it is increasingly discussed as one part of a broader plan, rather than a single solution for every visible skin concern.
ClearSK doctors say many patients now arrive at consultations already familiar with Pico Laser by name, having researched it online, but with concerns that extend beyond what the treatment is designed to address.
"A common misconception is that one well-known treatment can cover every visible concern on the skin. Pico Laser is designed specifically around pigmentation, so other concerns are assessed separately during consultation. Whether Pico Laser alone is appropriate, or whether it should be considered alongside another treatment, depends on the individual's presentation," said Dr Shiau Ee Leng, Co-Founder and Group Medical Director of ClearSK.
Most patients present with more than one skin concern at once, even if only one is raised at the start of a consultation. Redness, texture, hydration, and fine lines each involve different mechanisms within the skin, distinct from the pigment-focused mechanism Pico Laser is designed around.
Pico Laser uses picosecond laser energy designed to target pigment particles in the skin, helping them break down so they may fade gradually over a course of sessions. It is designed for tone and pigmentation specifically.
Other treatments, such as Yellow Laser for redness and visible vessels, or RF Microneedling for texture and firmness, are designed around different mechanisms entirely, addressing concerns that sit outside what Pico Laser is built for.
Because these treatments are designed around different, non-overlapping mechanisms, addressing only one may leave other visible concerns unchanged. Where more than one concern is identified during assessment, a doctor may discuss whether additional treatments should be considered within the same overall plan.
At ClearSK, treatment plans built around Pico Laser are developed following a doctor-led consultation, with suitability for each additional treatment assessed separately based on individual presentation. As with any aesthetic treatment, outcomes and suitability vary from person to person, and specific results are not guaranteed.
