MISRA has announced a conference to examine where the software engineering industry is heading and how best practice should evolve alongside it.
UNITED KINGDOM, August 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- MISRA has announced a landmark conference to examine the future of software engineering: where the industry is heading, why it is heading there, and how best practice should evolve alongside it.
The conference “MISRA: the Future, and AI – the journey ahead” to be held on 10 November 2026 near Manchester Airport (UK), will bring together engineers, software developers, researchers and industry leaders to explore the future of safety- and security-critical software development.
As AI becomes an increasingly common tool in software development, the conference will consider what compliance, assurance and accountability look like in an AI-driven world.
Through expert presentations, technical discussions and networking, delegates will explore how engineering best practice can continue to evolve while maintaining the rigorous standards required.
Andrew Banks, Chairman of the MISRA C Working Group, said: “While AI has phenomenal potential in our industry, such as to help engineers sift through large volumes of legacy code or accelerate routine development tasks, it needs to be deployed appropriately and safely. One of the topics we’ll be discussing is the continued importance of human expertise in directing, validating and taking responsibility for the software that is ultimately deployed.”
David Ward, Operations Director for the MISRA Consortium, added: "Software engineering is continually evolving, and, from the MISRA perspective, AI is the latest stage in the story. Bringing our community together is incredibly valuable so we can discuss the challenges we’re all facing, learn from each other, and make sure best practice evolves alongside the technology."
Through research projects, technical guidance and industry collaboration, the MISRA consortium provides practical and accessible resources that help organisations develop software that is safer, more secure and more reliable.
The conference will play an important role in that mission by providing a forum for the dissemination and exchange of knowledge between practitioners. Attendees will be able to hear from subject-matter experts, share experiences with peers and provide valuable feedback on the challenges that matter most to the engineering community and the future of MISRA guidelines.
