First Major Solo Show from Lens-Based Artist Louie Jones Continues Through August 23

I do not photograph light. I perform it — and the camera is the only witness.”

ELMHURST, IL, UNITED STATES, August 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- With less than two weeks remaining, Light As Language — the first major solo exhibition from Chicago-area lens-based artist Louie Jones — continues to draw visitors and collectors to the Elmhurst Artists' Guild Gallery at the Elmhurst Art Museum. The exhibition remains on view through August 23, 2026.

Each piece in the show is the product of a single, unrepeatable in-camera exposure — no compositing, no digital construction. What hangs on the gallery wall is exactly what happened in front of the lens, once, and never again. That discipline has become a point of connection for visitors: in a moment when synthetic and AI-generated imagery is everywhere, Jones's work offers something categorically different — testimony rather than construction.

"I do not photograph light. I perform it — and the camera is the only witness."

The exhibition unfolds across six thematic movements — Emergence and Becoming, Inner Life and the Soul's Landscape, Faith and Reckoning, Beauty, Tension and Duality, The World Outside and Social Witness, and Grace and Return — tracing an arc that visitors have described as unusually personal.

Light As Language runs through August 23, 2026, at the Elmhurst Artists' Guild Gallery at the Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 Cottage Hill Ave., Elmhurst, IL 60126. Admission is free and open to the public. Each work is available in a numbered edition, accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Inquiries may be directed to louie@louiejones.com.

ABOUT LOUIE JONES
Louie Jones is a lens-based fine art artist based in the Chicagoland area and a member of the Elmhurst Artists' Guild. His practice centers on long-exposure, in-camera light work — a process in which light is treated as a constructive material with weight, tension, and restraint. Each work is conceived and executed in a single exposure, with no compositing or digital construction. Jones brings to his art a background as a U.S. Army officer and more than three decades of enterprise-level systems work — disciplines that inform both the precision and the philosophical grounding of his practice. Light As Language is his first major solo exhibition.
