Hyperpilot and dSPACE Integration Automates Testing for Safety-Critical Automotive Software

New integration allows engineers to generate executable software tests directly from requirements and run them across SiL, HiL and Vehicle environments.

NEW YORK CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, August 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Hyperpilot, an AI engineering platform for safety-critical systems, today announced a new integration with dSPACE Test Automation SDK that allows engineering teams to automatically generate software tests from requirements and run them throughout the entire automotive development lifecycle process.

The integration addresses a growing challenge for automotive and manufacturing companies: the amount of software that must be tested is increasing rapidly, while testing remains heavily dependent on manual engineering work.

A modern vehicle can contain up to 150 electronic control units (ECUs), with thousands of software components running across them. Testing can involve tens of thousands of test cases for a single control unit. Across the automotive industry, verification and validation can account for 30% to 50% of software development effort.

Hyperpilot is designed to reduce the amount of manual work required to create and maintain those tests. Hyperpilot Studio takes engineering requirements and automatically generates complete, executable test suites. Engineers do not have to write each test case manually or use a chatbot to generate test scripts one at a time.

Through the new dSPACE integration, the tests generated by Hyperpilot can be exported as native dSPACE Test Automation SDK executables. The tests can then be used across Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) and Vehicle-in-the-Loop (ViL) environments.

This allows engineering teams to use the same test logic across different stages of development instead of creating and maintaining separate test scripts for each environment.

Traditional testing requires engineers to create test cases manually, update them when requirements change and adapt them for different environments. This can create delays and additional work throughout development.

Hyperpilot Studio can generate hundreds of tests per minute for individual software units and thousands of tests per minute when multiple units are processed in parallel. Hyperpilot says a complete, traceable test suite for a control unit can be generated in minutes.

When a requirement changes, affected tests can also be regenerated, helping keep requirements, software and tests aligned.

The technology is designed to support engineers rather than replace them. Instead of spending time writing and maintaining test scripts, engineers can focus on reviewing test coverage, evaluating edge cases and approving results.

dSPACE's Test Automation SDK allows development and validation teams to create automated tests in Python and run them across Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop environments. The same test logic can be reused across different environments, with configuration changes determining where the tests run.

Hyperpilot and dSPACE are currently onboarding a limited number of vehicle manufacturers and automotive suppliers for joint pilot programs.
