Government of India Sanctions ₹455.60 Crore in Central Aid to Uttarakhand for Flood and Landslide Relief

post

In response to the severe devastation caused by relentless monsoon rains, the Government of India has approved a financial assistance package of ₹455.60 crore to the state of Uttarakhand under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). This allocation represents the highest share among the six states receiving central support, reaffirming the Centre’s unwavering commitment to aiding the state’s recovery and resilience efforts.

Uttarakhand has faced an intense spell of floods, landslides, and cloudbursts over the past several weeks, disrupting lives, damaging infrastructure, and affecting thousands across its hilly districts. The sanctioned amount will support urgent relief measures, infrastructure rehabilitation, and long-term preparedness across the affected regions.

The release of funds was approved after a thorough assessment of the situation by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Government of India continues to closely monitor the ground situation and is actively coordinating relief and rescue operations. Multiple National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed to support local authorities in conducting evacuations, restoring access routes, and delivering essential supplies to stranded communities.

As part of a broader disaster response initiative, the central government has already released over ₹6,166 crore from the SDRF to various states this fiscal year, along with additional funds from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF). Uttarakhand’s allocation of ₹455.60 crore stands as a significant component of the recently sanctioned ₹1,066.80 crore relief package approved for six monsoon-affected states.

The Government of India remains fully committed to supporting Uttarakhand through this challenging period. Relief efforts will continue in coordination with state authorities, ensuring that timely assistance reaches every corner of the state.
