What does US inflation do to your savings? Felix Prehn interviews investor Jim Rogers about the stock market at record highs, gold, silver, and dollars.
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, August 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Felix Prehn, founder of the online trading and investing education platform Goat Academy, interviewed veteran investor Jim Rogers. The conversation covered why Jim Rogers sold most of his stocks and where he moved the money. Mr. Rogers also talked about inflation, gold, silver, and the advice he gives beginners.
Jim Rogers Sold Most of His Stocks and Moved the Money Into Cash
On Felix Prehn's YouTube channel, Felix & Friends, in the episode seen by over 150.000 viewers, Jim Rogers told Felix Prehn that every stock market in the world was almost, or already, at a record high, so he sold nearly everything in his portfolio. He now has a large amount of cash in US dollars, plus a small number of shares in two overseas markets.
Mr. Rogers was clear that other individuals shouldn’t copy him.
"I do not want anybody to listen to me and invest in what I invest in. I want them to invest in what they themselves know," Mr. Rogers said.
His comments do not constitute a forecast. The respected investor watches how market buyers behave before making decisions.
Jim Rogers Sells When There’s Hysteria in the Stock Markets and Buys When Despair Dominates
"When everybody's having a good time is a time to look out the window and maybe ask some questions," Mr. Rogers said.
He explained that high prices cause excitement among shareholders. For Mr. Rogers, excitement is a signal to pause, ask questions, rethink, and maybe pull back.
On the other hand, low prices usually mean others have put their money somewhere else, and that draws his attention.
People call Mr. Rogers a contrarian, meaning an investor who buys what the crowd avoids. He rejected the label and said. "I just like to buy cheap things."
Felix Prehn then asked about physical gold, silver, and how inflation lowers the value of cash savings.
Jim Rogers Keeps Gold and Silver as His Protection Against Inflation
Mr. Rogers has gold and silver, though he is not buying either metal at current prices. However, lower prices might make him reconsider.
On inflation, an investor with 6 decades on the markets was blunt about how governments respond. "I know the simple answer for most governments is print money, and we know printing money leads to inflation," he said.
Asked about inflation protection, Mr. Rogers said he keeps a small amount of each metal at home.
Jim Rogers closed the interview with advice for investors: "Don't listen to other people, including me. Stay with what you know."
Felix Prehn, the interviewer, has made a similar argument. The economist and former investment banker has been quoted many times, saying, "There is no magic formula or miracle trade. The aim is to build a framework, develop discipline, and learn how to make decisions with a clear head rather than emotions."
Who Is Jim Rogers?
Mr. Rogers co-founded the Quantum Fund with George Soros in 1973. According to widely reported accounts of the fund's history, it had gained more than 4,000 percent by the time he retired at 37. The S&P 500 grew about 47 percent over the same period.
For decades, he has predicted long price booms in raw materials such as oil and metals, while also predicting a weaker US dollar.
