As Pokémon TCG launched its first simultaneous worldwide release, apps built on CardSight AI could identify the new set from day one.

Developers and businesses building on CardSight AI did not have to ask their users to check back in a few weeks. The newest set was ready on day one.

Pokémon marked the 30th anniversary of its trading card game with the first simultaneous worldwide release in the game's history. That raises the bar for everyone who serves collectors. When a set opens everywhere at once, every trading card app, marketplace, and collection tool faces the same deadline, and release day is when collectors are most eager to scan what they pulled.

From within days to release day

Speed to new releases has become one of the clearest measures of trading card infrastructure. In July, CardSight AI shipped identification for Pokémon Pitch Black within days of that set's worldwide release. With 30th Celebration, the gap between a set reaching shelves and reaching builders closed entirely.

That pace is by design. 30th Celebration is not a typical set, and two of its signature features required more than adding new trading cards to the catalog.

Every 30th Celebration booster pack includes one of 30 special Pikachu illustrations. Each of these Pikachu trading cards carries two numbers: its place in the main set and its place in the run of 30. CardSight AI returns both. The main set number is returned as usual, and a new SUBSET_NUMBER field tells a collector, or the app they are using, exactly which of the 30 illustrations was pulled. For collectors chasing all 30, that distinction is the whole point.

The set also includes the Classic Collection, iconic trading cards from Pokémon TCG history reprinted with their original numbering. Yes, that means a 4/102 Charizard is back in packs. CardSight AI identifies Classic Collection trading cards with that original numbering intact, so the reprint reads the way collectors already know it.

The same fast identification, on the newest set

30th Celebration trading cards are identified the same way as the more than 8,250 sets CardSight AI already supports. A collector can take an ordinary photo, at an angle, with several trading cards in the frame, and CardSight AI returns each specific trading card in under 300 milliseconds per card. Most alternatives still ask a person to line up one trading card at a time inside a box on the screen, the way a mobile banking app asks you to line up a check. For a set built around opening packs and chasing 30 different Pikachu, that difference shows up with every pack. Graded slabs from PSA, BGS, SGC, CGC, and TAG are identified with the grade extracted, which matters for an anniversary set whose chase trading cards are already heading to grading companies.

The same identification also runs on live video, offered as a separate product, so a break or a live-selling stream can surface the trading card on camera as it is pulled. With 30th Celebration, that is the moment collectors are watching.

Japanese 30th Celebration support underway

Because 30th Celebration launched simultaneously worldwide, collectors in Japan opened the set on the same day. Support for the Japanese edition of 30th Celebration is actively underway. CardSight AI already detects the printed language of Pokémon trading cards, and Japanese Pokémon trading cards continue to be added to the CardSight AI Catalog.
