The main commune accommodates resident artists, while Amaria provides space for writers and literary practitioners. The sculptor's park houses works produced during residency programs. The center has hosted practitioners from disciplines including painting, ceramics, sculpture, metalwork, stone carving, photography and writing. Its residency programs provide opportunities for artists and creative practitioners to work within the local environment and interact with artisans and craft practitioners from surrounding communities.

Art Ichol's location also places it within the wider cultural landscape of Maihar, a town associated with the legacy of Ustad Allauddin Khan and the Maihar Gharana of classical music. The Maihar Band, which has been inscribed in India's National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, continues the region's musical tradition.
