ALBANY, GA, UNITED STATES, June 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Albany State University (ASU) is pleased to announce that its Yellow Ribbon Program Agreement has been approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The agreement will take effect for the 2026–2027 academic year, beginning August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2027.— Dr. Jarrod Benjamin, VP for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
This initiative was led by Mrs. Chassidy Jackson, Interim Director of the Office of Military and Adult Education.
The program will be visible on the VA GI Bill® Comparison Tool beginning in July 2026, providing eligible veterans, service members, and military family members with enhanced educational benefits and financial support. Albany State University will ensure funds are contributed to help cover tuition and fees not fully covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, along with comprehensive support and resources to ensure military-connected students can focus on their academic success without financial barriers.
Albany State University serves a growing population of military-connected students, with enrollment steadily increasing in recent years. The university currently supports nearly 600 military-affiliated students, including veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard, Reservists, military spouses, and dependents, reflecting its continued commitment to access, flexibility, and student success.

Albany State University provides a comprehensive network of support services tailored specifically for military-connected students. These include a dedicated Military Success Coordinator, priority registration, and specialized military and veteran support services. The university accepts VA and Department of Defense education benefits, offers credit for military training and exams such as CLEP and DSST, and provides VA work-study opportunities. Eligible students may also qualify for in-state tuition, further reducing the cost of attendance.
