COLORADO BARRICADE AND MERIDIAN RAPID DEFENSE GROUP WERE THE TEAM TO CALL
DENVER, CO, US, September 7, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Big crowds and a week-long series of open street events culminating in the MLB All Star Game in Denver called for the creation of a safe but easily accessible pedestrian zone and the Colorado Barricade Company and Meridian Rapid Defense Group teamed up to make it happen.
In the days leading up to the big game the action centered around the MLB Fan Experience at Playball Park which involved closing off five blocks of downtown Denver. Meridian?s Archer 1200 mobile barriers did the job.
Tim Van Pelt, Special Events Supervisor for Colorado Barricade said, ?Initially the production company, BaAM, requested that we use concrete barriers but when we showed them a better and less intrusive alternative, Meridian?s Archer 1200 barriers, they chose to go with those.?
The Archers, made of 700 lbs. of US made steel, are still very mobile and were easily moved into place. Eventually more than 60 barriers created a ?safe zone? for families to enjoy the Fan Experience. For the entire ten-day period the Archer 1200 barriers became the frontline of the security plan.
BaAM is one of North America?s leading event coordinators providing services to dozens of clients including the NFL, the National Hockey League, MLB and ceremonies at the Pan Am Games. The company was also recently involved in the design and construction of the ?Field of Dreams? temporary ballpark in Iowa.
?With such large numbers of people in Denver for All Star Week, their safety becomes the responsibility of the organizers. It was all important, in fact imperative, that vehicles moving close by were taken out of the equation,? said Peter Whitford, CEO of Meridian Rapid Defense Group.
The barriers were placed so that people could easily walk past and through the safety cordon, but no car or truck could enter.
?The production company which does a lot of high-profile events was very happy with how it all turned out,? said Mr. Van Pelt. ?It was good to offer them something more aesthetically pleasing such as the Archers. They saw how people could walk easily into the Fan Experience without having to walk around a cumbersome ten-foot concrete barrier,? said Mr. Van Pelt.
Prior to the event Meridian?s and Colorado Barricade?s fully certified deployment teams worked with the city and event organizers to prepare a fully certified vehicle safety mitigation plan.
Meridian Archer 1200 Barriers are ?SAFETY Act Certified? by the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) providing the ultimate standard in keeping people, communities and places safer.
